Letter from the Owner
It is commonly held in the wine industry that wine makers are by nature, a little eccentric. And truly, who would argue with that? Wine making is tough stuff; it requires patience, intuition, diligence, trust and most of all passion. You don’t start a career, have children and then decide that what you’d really like to do with all of the spare time on your hands is to start a winery, if you’re not passionate and maybe a little eccentric.
After entering the professional world I decided that I needed to follow my childhood dream and start a winery and with the help of those around me I achieved this goal. Since 2006 Elsom Cellars has been producing 100% local Washington wine from Washington’s top vineyards. Through this process I have found a lifelong love of Washington’s Malbec grape and continue to find endless excitement in exploring its many complexities and countless flavors. I can’t wait to share my passion with you in our winery, from our table to yours.

JODY ELSOM | Owner
Jody is a traveling spirit. If you ask her what inspires her, you get a million glimpses of the world she’s seen. This old world teaches us a lot if we slow down and let it. And, if we sit across a table from a stranger with a couple glasses of great wine, before long, it’s surprising how much we all share. Wine gathers its taste from everything it encounters. The earth. The air. Everything leaves a mark. So do people. Jody’s passion for wine began in the Napa Valley and further explored through numerous experiences in the vineyards and wineries throughout Italy and France. Formally educated as one of the first graduates from WSU’s extension studies of Enology. Jody has a passion for developing wines that best represent the possibilities for Washington Wines.
REBECCA WEBER | Winemaker
Rebecca joined Elsom Cellars back in 2014 bringing both her passion for wine and background in science to the wines at Elsom Cellars. Rebecca found herself drawn to the wine industry after earning her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. She first discovered her desire to start winemaking while working a harvest in Bordeaux, France. Rebecca has since traveled and worked all over the world, including wine regions in Australia, Austria, and California’s Napa Valley and Sonoma County. She spent several years at the Betz Family Winery where she had the chance to learn from Washington wine pioneer and Master of Wine, Bob Betz, before finding her home at Elsom Cellars. When Rebecca isn’t delving into chemistry or tending to barrels in the warehouse, you can find her volunteering at the Pacific Science Center, playing with her pup, or on the soccer field.
Creative Director & Marketing
Allie is a creative spirit and artist at heart. Growing up in Seattle, much of her work is inspired by the nature around her. She attended the University of Oregon earning a BFA in art and technology with a focus in sculpture and installation art. In 2019 Allie returned to Washington and established herself in the art community of Whidbey Island as well as the wine community of Elsom Cellars. Allie loves bringing ideas into reality through a variety of art mediums. You can see her work throughout the tasting room. From labels to the laser-cut menu wall, she has a hand in all things creative here at the winery.
It makes perfect sense since she comes from a family of wine lovers. She and her dad would blind guess tasting notes before reading the label, and she continues to be inspired by visiting other wineries and vineyards as she dives deeper into the industry. When she isn’t working on something for the winery, she is likely working on house renovations, creating art at her studio, or walking her dogs on the beach. If you don’t catch her in the tasting room, visit her by following the Whidbey Island Art Trail on your next trip to the island.
Operations, Events, & Tasting Room Manager
A born and raised Washingtonian, Kassie derives much of her adventurous spirit from the wilds of the Pacific Northwest. After completing studies in Recreation & Leadership at Western Washington University, she was able to take her degree, combine it with a little PNW spirit and coffee – and create a path in the tourism industry. After traveling and guiding throughout South America she returned home to promote Seattle as a destination. Kassie first met the Elsom team in 2016 while working next door at Evergreen Escapes. She went on exploring new regions around the world only to return a short time later on the winery side of things; first as Tasting Room Associate and then as Operations and Tasting Room Manager when a full-time opportunity presented itself. Kassie believes the sense of community you find while traveling is like the community you find when sharing a glass of wine. She hopes you find some of the community you may be searching for here at Elsom.
Director of Sales
Nolan joined Elsom Cellars in 2020, bringing his extensive experience working with customers to meet and exceed their tastes and needs. Hailing originally from Colorado, Nolan has lived most of his life in Seattle. After graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Business Administration and Finance and serving in many sales and management roles in the financial industry, a trip to Napa to visit a friend at Caymus Vineyards changed his life. He realized that he could marry his love for customer service and sales with his passion for great wine, so he made the leap into the world of wine sales and has never been happier! Some initial courses at Napa’s Culinary Institute of America led to him becoming a Certified Wine Specialist. Nolan worked his way up in the industry with a number of notable Pacific Northwest and national wine distributors, serving most recently as the Director of Sales with Silver Lake Winery.
Aside from his love of wine, Nolan finds joy in cooking, hosting dinners, and dining out on the town. If not enjoying a good meal and glass of wine, you can find him exploring world-class hiking and skiing in the Pacific Northwest!
Come visit us at SODO Gateway! We are a quick 5-minute drive south of Downtown or 10-minute walk from the SODO Link Light Rail station. We have a large free parking lot and share the lot with other wineries, a cidery and distillery.
